A dialogue brings more than just paper information (RFI) to IT selections
In many IT selection processes, we still see an RFI preceding an RFP. Understandable, but not always effective. At SourceMinds, we are increasingly consciously opting for an RFD (Request for Dialogue).
Why?
An RFI primarily yields information. Many general answers, sales jargon, and limited differentiation. An RFD, on the other hand, creates substantive interaction. On the one hand, it forces suppliers to think along regarding your specific issues, ambitions, and context; on the other hand, it brings you new insights, developments, or best practices.
By placing the conversation at the center:
- Parties will understand each other better;
- insights into potential solutions are gained more quickly;
- it becomes clear whether there is a cultural match;
- and ensures that the RFP aligns more specifically with the needs.
The result?
A more targeted RFP, better comparability, and choices based on content and collaboration, not just on paper.
Curious how an RFD can strengthen your selection process? We are happy to share our experiences.
